This week and next, AuthorHouse will be talking to Shelle, self-published author of I Know You Are A Man, But I Am A Woman and A Woman’s Cry. In 2009, Shelle started her own nonprofit organization, A Broken Rose Organization, to help women and children who have been abused.
Shelle, please tell us about yourself.
I am a Humanitarian whom believes in making a difference in a community and/or solely focus on Women Empowerment. I do this by writing books and working through my 501c3 Nonprofit Organization, A Broken Rose Organization.
Were there any authors who helped you develop your writing style, or influenced your choice of genre?
I read a lot of different self-help books written by T.D. Jakes and Steve Harvey.
Please describe your books, I Know You Are A Man, But I Am A Woman and A Woman’s Cry.
I know You Are A Man, But I Am A Woman and A Woman’s Cry have both been written for women who have been through a variety of things alone in life, for the women that lack self empowerment to reach their aspirations, and for the men that simply want to see life from a woman’s point of view. With my writings, I share my personal journeys hoping to inspire and encourage others that everything will be okay as long as you believe and move forward.
What inspired you to write? How long did it take you to finish your book?
My personal journeys inspired me to write a book. I wanted to turn my mess into a message for others to know that as long as they have a faith and a prayer life, things will turn around. The book took 6-9 months to finish. My last three chapters were written at my father’s bedside while he was in hospice.
